Road Closures and Diversions for the 2024 Carnival
To ensure the safety of all participants and spectators, there will be temporary road closures and diversions in place during the 2024 Carnival. Please review the details below to plan your travel accordingly.
Road Closures:
Specific roads in the Wells area will be closed to traffic during the carnival. These closures are essential to provide a safe environment for the parade and other festivities. The exact roads and closure times will be updated closer to the event, so please check back regularly for the most accurate information.
Diversions:
Alternative routes will be clearly signposted to help you navigate around the closed areas. We encourage all drivers to follow these diversions to minimize disruption and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Road Restrictions
Friday 15th November 0600 hrs to Saturday 16th November 0400 hrs.
Tor Street (B3139) - NO PARKING - Tor Street will be the main entrance to Wells from Bishops Park Way (A371) and will also act as the main escape route.
Jocelyn Drive - NO PARKING
Morrisons Supermarket - Full access from the Glastonbury Road (Tincknells) roundabout until 6pm on Friday 15th November.
Road Closures
Friday 15th November 1200 hrs.
Wand Road & Knight Road Access for: residents & visitors
Friday 15th November 1800 hrs.
Bishops Park Way, Strawberry Way, Tucker Street, Chamberlain Street, Sadler Street, High Street, Broad Street & Priory Road. And all other roads around town, within the road closures.

Glastonbury Road & Travel towards Coxley, Polsham & Glastonbury (A39) In both directions - Diversion in place. Roads will be reopened as soon as possible after carnival. The Road will be closed from the Tin Bridge Roundabout in Glastonbury all the way to Tincknells Roundabout in Wells.
Bishops Parkway and travel towards Shepton Mallet - Diversion in place. Please follow official diversion route.
Access to Crandon Springs Care Home, Fletcher House, Wand Road Estate & Knight Road Estate after 1800 hrs is via escort from carnival marshalls. For more information please contact the Chief Marshall, Nigel Clarke at clarkedesign@aol.com
